My Story

I first started writing when I was twelve. After years of teachers telling my parents that my spelling was atrocious, my seventh grade English teacher got us writing stories and from then on I was unstoppable. It was as if I’d suddenly realized that all the stories in my head could be catalogued and filed into a neat little library that I was convinced the world would be honoured to access. Looking back I think that my completely unearned confidence was my greatest weapon because it kept me writing, no matter how terrible that writing might have been.

At seventeen I moved across the country to Waterloo, Ontario to pursue a degree in Political Science. Perhaps a far cry from the creative world I had been living in but to me they were one and the same. In 2016, political communication was shaping the social landscape of North America, and I was determined to figure out what made people believe the stories

After graduation, I took advantage of my experience in the service industry to turn to tourism. I love people, and I was valued for my unique ability to win over people from all walks of life and communicate the company message, it was my superpower. I knew exactly what each customer needed and how to deliver. As I writer, I bring those same communication skills to text.

The greatest gift that tourism gave me was that as I hopped around the west coast of Canada, I got a peak into the minds of thousands of Canadians, from city dwellers to farmers, tradies to van-lifers. The people I met during this time were the most valuable teachers I could have asked for and their experience and insights humble me every day.

When I am writing, I take inspiration from every encounter I had with these people and I imagine I’m speaking to them. That is what I bring to your business.
